The Friends of Quarr: The new Friends’ project involves making the paths around the church, more accessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs. The project involves using Breedon Gravel, improving the drainage in this area and installing formal edging. The cost of  ‘The Accessible Paths Project” is £18,000, the Friends have raised just over  £11,000. Orpheus Singers are performing a Concert of Sacred Music in the church on Saturday 6th July, at 3 pm. The retiring collection is in aid of our project. Please see the poster for this here. We are grateful to Orpheus Singers their support with fundraising for this project.

Gregorian Chant Forum 2019: Please mark in your diaries another meeting of the Monastic Chant Forum at Quarr Abbey in the Summer of 2019.We propose to assemble once again at Quarr Abbey - the venue cannot be beaten - from Monday 15th (arrivals before supper at 7pm) to Friday 19th July (departures in the morning: the Quarr daily Mass is at 0900). As a general organising (though not exclusive) theme for this meeting, we propose to look at Gregorian music for St. John the Baptist. Once again we are delighted to invite Dr. Giedrius Gapsys of the Ecole de Chant Grégorien de Paris to instruct us in the historical and musicological details of this Chant. We have also invited Jaan-Eik Tulve, unrivalled master of Chant interpretation and direction.  Also on hand will be our own home team of Dom Xavier Perrin, Abbot of Quarr, and Sr. Bernadette Byrne, Choir Mistress at Ryde, not to mention others certainly worthy of mention. For accommodation at Quarr, contact Fr. Brian at: procurator@quarr.org Information about St. Cecilia's Abbey Ryde from Sr. Bernadette Byrne at abbey@stceciliasabbey.org.uk
